Custom windows
No wall
is straight
That is why made to measure exists. We measure your opening at the top, in the middle and at the bottom, and those three almost never match. The window is made to the smallest one, and the difference is taken up in the junction, not in a gap you will feel later.
Where the money goes
Five items make the price
We write all of them on your quote. Not because we have to, but because otherwise you end up comparing two proposals that do not contain the same thing.
- The profile
Material, number of chambers, colour, and whether it carries the same shade on both sides. A different colour inside and out costs extra at the factory.
- The glazing
Double, triple, acoustic or laminated. This is the item that moves most and where proposals differ most often.
- The hardware
We fit multipoint locking only, nothing else. It is not an option on our quote, it is the standard.
- The installation
Removal, packing, insulating, finishing, adjusting. On an older facade this is more work than on new build, and that should show in the figure.
- What comes after
Sills, drips, internal finishing and taking away your old windows. When a proposal looks cheaper, this is usually what is missing from it.
Shapes
Arches, angles and older facades
An arch stays an arch
On a nineteen thirties facade, a curved head is part of the drawing. It can still be made, in wood and in pvc, and it does not change the character of your house. Squaring off an arch is cheaper and you look at it for the rest of your life.
Out of square openings get taken up
Old houses settle. We make the window square and absorb the difference in the junction, with a profile made for it. The alternative, making the window out of square, is visible from the street.
Glazing bars and divisions
Bars inside the glazing unit are easy to clean but look flat. Bars applied on both sides with a spacer between the panes read as real. We show you both in the flesh, not in a photo.
Protected area or not
If your home sits within a protected streetscape, the municipality has a say in what is allowed. Check that before anything is ordered, because a window that is not permitted is a window you pay for twice.
